  CERTIFICATION

Establishing a meaningful professional certification process and designation for privacy and access professionals in Canada is a core goal that CAPAPA has, from inception, supported and worked toward achieving.

The CAPA-CAPAPA Professional Standards and Certification Project (PSCP) is a long-term initiative to establish professional designation standards and criteria for Information Access and Protection of Privacy (IAPP) professionals in Canada. We are grateful to have the support of Canada's Privacy and Information Commissioners.

Certification Project Background

Who, What, When, Where & Why of Professional Certification in Canada. An overview of a new nation-wide project mandated with the development of standards for the IAP profession and the enablement of independent certification of the IAP professional in Canada. Presented at the Newfoundland & Labrador Access & Privacy Workshop 2007.

Evolution of the IAP Professional. What started as "other duties as assigned" has evolved into a career...that of the IAP Professional. What constitutes a career in the field of information access and privacy? What defines the IAP Professional? How does a person get involved in the IAP field, or more importantly, what training is available? Through associations like CAPAPA and other support networks, we can clearly identify the skills, training, options, commonalities, and issues surrounding the IAP Professional in Canada. Presented at the Atlantic Canada Access & Privacy Workshop 2005.

2007-2008 Report on Plans and Priorities (RPP) for the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada.
